Real Time PCR Reagents and Kits
Products designed for use during real-time (quantitative) PCR procedures. Includes master mixes, DNA polymerases, reverse transcriptases, size standards, kits, and reagents.
Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) is a laboratory technique that combines the reverse transcription of RNA into DNA and the subsequent amplification of the DNA using PCR.
In RT-PCR, a reverse transcriptase enzyme converts an RNA template to its complementary DNA (cDNA). The cDNA then becomes the template for PCR amplification.
A typical RT-PCR kit includes the main components needed for the assay:
- Buffer
- Primers – a combination of deoxynucleotide triphosphates (dNTPs) of the four bases of adenine (dATP), cytosine (dCTP), guanine (dGTP), and thymine (dTTP)
- Reverse transcriptase reagent
The combination of RT-PCR and qPCR techniques (sometimes labelled RT-qPCR) is often used in research and clinical labs to analyze gene expression and quantify viral RNA. Since this method uses fluorescence to track the amplification reaction, these kits may also include:
- Fluorogenic primers or labeled fluorogenic probes
- Fluorescent dye
Reagents for cDNA PCR can be purchased separately or as cDNA synthesis kits.
RT-PCR is commonly used for RNA detection, molecular cloning, and gene sequencing. RT-qPCR is used for gene expression analysis, RNAi or microarray validation, pathogen detection, genetic testing, and other disease research.

ACROBiosystems E. coiI resDNA Quantitative Kit (qPCR)
Residual host cell DNA refers to fragments of DNA from the host organism that are left behind after a biological process such as the production of a biopharmaceutical product or the cultivation of a cell line. This residual DNA can potentially contaminate the final product and affect its safety and efficacy. In the context of biopharmaceutical production, regulatory agencies such as the FDA and EMA have set limits on the amount of residual host cell DNA that is acceptable in a final product. These limits vary depending on the type of product and the route of administration, and residue host cell DNA quantitative kits are designed to ensure that the final product is safe for human use.

AMPIGENE qPCR 1-Step Probe Kits use the latest developments in reverse transcriptase (RTase) technology and buffer chemistry for efficient cDNA synthesis and qPCR in a single tube. The modified MMLV RTase is blended with RNase inhibitor to prevent degradation of RNA by contaminating RNase. The RTase is thermostable and extremely active. AMPIGENE qPCR 1-Step Probe Kits are designed for use on a variety of probes including: Taqma , Molecular Beacons, and Scorpion probes. An optimized buffer system allows efficient amplification and proprietary enhancers prevent the formation of primers/dimers to increase sensitivity and specificity. ROX is a reference dye which is used to normalize fluorescent signal in qPCR. AMPIGENE qPCR 1-Step Probe Kits come with either Lo-ROX, Hi-ROX, or No-ROX concentration. Choose the appropriate ROX concentration for the instrument (see instrument compatibility for reference dye chart below.) Applications: PCR.

Molecular IVD companies continue to experience tighter and tighter regulations in regard to incorporating appropriate positive and negative controls into their assays. Meridian’s RT-qPCR Extraction Control Orange uses artificial micelles that contain quantitative PCR positive control RNA sequence (with no known homology to any organism, so that it does not interfere with the detection of the sample target RNA). The cells are added to the RT-qPCR Extraction Control is spiked in the with lysis buffer into the sample prior to RNA extraction for downstream amplification by RT-qPCR. The detection of RT-qPCR Extraction Control acts as a cDNA synthesis and PCR positive control and confirms the success of the extraction and amplification steps, avoiding the misinterpretation of a false negative result.

BioChain's HotStart Taq Polymerase combines high specificity, sensitivity, and minimal optimization with a fast 10-minute activation time. During PCR reaction setup, DNA polymerases commonly exhibit some synthesis activity which can lead to amplification of mis-primed sequences and accumulation of primer-dimers that compromise the specificity and yield of the reaction. Non-specific amplification can be minimized with HotStart Taq Polymerase. Our ready-to-use HotStart Taq Polymerase is chemically modified causing its activity to be blocked at lower temperatures. Activity is restored when the enzyme is heated to 95oC during the initial denaturing process, enabling hot-start PCR. BioChain?€?s Hot-Start Taq Polymerase is a powerful, yet cost effective way to minimize pre-cycling polymerase activity for more efficient, specific PCR.
